I just realized that the lack of representation of POC in media probably helped result in a lot of internal racism I had/have.

Like characters of color either aren’t developed, or aren’t in stories at all, because people “find it hard to relate to them”.

This probably helped in the otherization I had towards other black people. Why I just couldn’t “get” black folks for the longest time. It was always easier to interact with white people because I’d been engrained to feel for them since the day I could open my eyes.

That’s some fucked up shit.
